Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 11, 2026.

XHelpers is a local-first macOS menu-bar utility for display controls, keyboard shortcuts, Finder context menu actions, and local Safe encryption.

  • No XHelpers sign-in, subscription account, or user profile.
  • The XHelpers app contains no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs and sends no app-usage telemetry to Xintech LLC.
  • Display, Finder, and Safe actions run locally unless you deliberately hand an item to another app or send a support email.

Scope and Controller

This policy covers the XHelpers macOS app, its Finder extension, support communications, and the XHelpers pages on xintechllc.com. Xintech LLC is responsible for the information it receives through support and website analytics. Data that remains only on your Mac is processed locally and is not thereby received by Xintech LLC.

Local Data

XHelpers may keep the following information locally so enabled features work between launches:

  • Display identifiers and topology, brightness and mirroring behavior, keyboard shortcuts, menu choices, and start-at-login preferences.
  • Finder action settings, selected editor, terminal, or compatible apps, file and folder paths needed for an action, and security-scoped bookmarks for folders you approve.
  • Safe workflow and destination choices, plus bounded diagnostic messages. Safe passwords and derived encryption keys are used only while an operation is running and are not stored.

Local preferences, bookmarks, and logs remain on your Mac unless you choose an external action described below. XHelpers does not sell personal information or send background app telemetry to Xintech LLC.

Finder Context Menus and Safes

When Finder prepares an XHelpers context menu, the extension receives the selected or target file URLs and may inspect paths and basic file metadata to decide which commands apply. For supported ZIP or 7z archives, it may inspect a small, bounded header. This menu-building step does not upload the paths or file contents to Xintech LLC.

XHelpers reads or changes file contents only after you choose a command that requires it, such as creating, moving, pasting, encrypting, or decrypting. Safe encryption and decryption run locally. Passwords and derived keys are not logged or stored, and the current public Safe feature does not provide Xintech-hosted transfer or link sharing.

If you choose to open or hand an item to another app, that app receives the item or path and may use its own network services. Its subsequent handling is governed by its own privacy policy, not this policy.

Diagnostics and Logs

XHelpers writes diagnostic messages to Apple's local unified logging system and keeps a bounded app-local log. Entries may describe app and macOS versions, app state, display identifiers and topology, brightness or power operations, Finder-extension and action results, and errors. The app is designed not to log file contents, Safe passwords, derived keys, typed text, or audio content.

The app-local log is limited to 800 entries, 4,096 characters per message, and approximately 8 MB. It rolls over as limits are reached and remains on the Mac until removed with the app's local data or by normal system log retention.

"Report a Bug..." prepares an editable email draft with a diagnostic summary and, when available, a bounded XHelpers log excerpt. It normally uses relevant entries from the preceding 20 minutes and may look back up to 24 hours if needed, with a maximum of 180 lines and 16,000 characters. Feature-request and general-feedback drafts do not include logs. Nothing is sent unless you send the email.

Network Activity and Support

XHelpers display, Finder, and Safe features do not require an XHelpers service or account. App installation and updates are handled by the Mac App Store under Apple's terms and privacy policy.

"Report a Bug...", "Suggest a Feature...", and "Send Feedback..." open an editable draft in your default email app. XHelpers does not send it automatically. If you send it, Xintech LLC receives your email address, message, attachments, and any diagnostic text you leave in the draft.

Your Choices

  • Enable or disable the Finder extension in macOS settings.
  • Approve folder access when requested and remove saved app data or approvals using macOS tools.
  • Review, edit, or discard every support draft and remove diagnostic text before sending.
  • Choose whether to hand files or paths to third-party apps.

Website Analytics

The XHelpers website uses Umami Cloud, provided by Umami Software, Inc., to count page visits and actions such as App Store, support, privacy, terms, and email-link clicks. Umami may process page path and search, referrer, browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language, campaign parameters, event target, and approximate location derived from the network address.

Umami states that its analytics do not use cookies or conventional cross-site fingerprinting and that visitors' IP addresses are not stored. Website analytics are currently retained for up to six months. These website metrics are separate from the XHelpers app, which does not contain the Umami script or an analytics SDK. See Umami's Privacy Policy.

Retention, Legal Bases, and Your Rights

Local preferences, bookmarks, and app-local logs remain on your Mac until you remove them or macOS removes them. Support emails are kept only as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain support records, resolve disputes, protect the service, or comply with law. Website analytics follow the retention described above.

Where applicable, Xintech LLC processes support communications to respond to your request and website analytics for its legitimate interest in understanding and improving its public pages. Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability, and to complain to a competent data-protection authority. Some rights are limited where Xintech LLC does not possess or cannot reasonably identify the data.
