Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 13, 2026.

DeskHelper is a local-first macOS menu-bar utility for display controls, Finder context menu actions, and local Safe encryption.

  • No DeskHelper sign-in, subscription account, or user profile.
  • No event tracking, session tracking, advertising pixels, or usage telemetry.
  • Display, Finder, Safe, and feedback actions run locally unless you choose to send email support.

Data Collection

DeskHelper does not collect, store, sell, share, or transmit personal information through its display-management, Finder action, or Safe encryption features. Xintech LLC does not receive information about your displays, files, settings, usage, or device from the app unless you intentionally send it through email support.

  • No DeskHelper account is required.
  • No analytics, tracking SDKs, advertising SDKs, or crash-reporting SDKs are included.
  • No background telemetry is sent to Xintech LLC.

Local Data

DeskHelper may store a small amount of local preference data and bounded local diagnostic logs on your Mac. This is used to make the app behave consistently between launches and to prepare bug-report drafts when you choose to report a bug.

Local preferences may include:

  • Menu settings such as auto blackout, mirroring, display adjustment, keyboard shortcut, and start-at-login preferences.
  • Finder context menu preferences, including which actions are enabled and which editor, terminal, or compatible app you selected.
  • Folder access bookmarks, Safe workflow preferences, and bounded local diagnostic messages. DeskHelper never stores Safe passwords.

DeskHelper uses macOS display APIs for display controls and macOS Finder extension APIs for Finder context menu actions. Finder and Safe operations read local selections only when you choose a DeskHelper action, and DeskHelper does not upload Finder paths, file contents, Safe contents, or Safe passwords to Xintech LLC.

Network Activity

DeskHelper's normal display controls, Finder context menus, and Safe encryption features do not require a network connection. Updates are handled through the Mac App Store.

Feedback menu items open a draft in your default email app. The app does not send email automatically, and nothing is sent unless you choose Send.

Bug Reports, Feature Requests, and Feedback

The "Report a Bug...", "Suggest a Feature...", and "Send Feedback..." menu items open a draft in your default email app addressed to Xintech LLC. The app does not send email automatically. You can review, edit, or delete the draft before sending it.

The draft may include a short diagnostic summary so support can understand the context: app version, macOS version, processor architecture, display state, Finder extension state, enabled actions, and current app status. Your email address is visible to Xintech LLC only if you send the email.

Bug report drafts may include a bounded excerpt of recent DeskHelper diagnostic logs. Feature request and general feedback drafts do not include logs.

Diagnostics and Logs

DeskHelper writes diagnostic messages to Apple's local unified logging system and keeps a small bounded app-local diagnostic log. These logs are stored locally on your Mac. Choosing "Report a Bug..." may collect a bounded DeskHelper-only excerpt from the app-local log and insert it into the email draft.

Nothing is sent unless you choose Send, and you can delete the diagnostic summary or log excerpt before sending bug reports.

Your Choices

  • You can leave feedback drafts unsent, edit them, or delete diagnostic details.
  • You can enable or disable the Finder extension in macOS settings.
  • You can remove local app preferences and folder approvals using normal macOS preference-management tools.
